On the Trail of Orca Scat
Here is a story about another way people have put the acute olfactory sense of dogs to use. A former stray lab has been trained to channel his love of play into tracking orca whales in Puget Sound. Researchers are interested in the diets of the whales and use the dog to track their leavings for analysis.
