The Animalarium

I’ve recently begun to dig into forms of animal representation, trying to learn something about how people have expressed there perspectives on animals through cultural production.  People have been making images of animals longer than just about anything.  Art history always begins with some reference to the caves of Lascaux and its menagerie of creature images.

Animalarium is a site I came across that is filled with illustrated animals, many from children’s books and advertising.  Good fun browsing through these, with a lot of cool drawing and printing technique on display.
